Thierry Montpetit - Beethoven: towards a new era

                                                                              Extremely clear playing!

This concert, dedicated to Beethoven's piano music, is a true voyage through his various compositional periods. With his extremely clear and colorful playing, pianist Thierry Montpetit pays tribute to this composer who brought classicism to a new era : romantism.

Thierry Montpetit began studying piano at the age of 14 and, four years later, he was admitted to Jimmy Brière's class at the Université de Montréal where he completed a doctorate in piano performance in 2019. Other notable professors include Marc Durand and Richard Raymond, with whom he completed a fifth cycle diploma at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal. He has also been able to perfect his skills with masters such as Jacques Rouvier, Sergei Babayan, Dang Thai Son, Robert McDonald, Antonio Pompa-Baldi, Arnaldo Cohen and Jean Saulnier. Thierry is an active pianist, having performed in Canada, the United States, Japan and France. He has also had success in several competitions, having twice been a finalist in international competitions in Tokyo and New York City, and having won prizes such as the first prize at the 2019 Festival de musique du Royaume, the Jean-Paul Sévilla prize for the best interpretation of Fauré nocturnes at the 2017 Prix d'Europe, and other prizes at the Canadian Music Competition, the Festival de musique classique du Bas-Richelieu and the Montreal Music Competition.
