Duo Bednarz-Hiratsuka

French impressions

Canadian violinist Frédéric Bednarz, a Montreal native, is well known both as a soloist and a chamber musician. Winner of a variety of competitions, including the prestigious Prix d'Europe, and a top prize at the Val Tidone International Competition in Italy, he has performed as a soloist with many orchestras. His wide-ranging repertoire and his sensitive and keen musicianship have been praised by critics. "Powerful atmosphere, technically assured...Gorgeous tone drawing, sustained sweetness" states The Strad, London, while the Kansas City Star writes, "A marvelous violinist and eminent chamber musician." He has performed in North America, Central America, Europe and Asia as well as in all major Canadian cities.

The Japanese-American pianist Natsuki Hiratsuka, who holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Boston, pursued her master's studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Manhattan School of Music. Invited to give many recitals in Japan, the United States and England, Natsuki Hiratsuka recently played at Musashino Hall in Tokyo as well as several conservatories and universities, including Rhode Island's Brown University, where she taught for many years.
