Tango Boréal / Pampa Blues

A moving concert!

From the pampas to the Far West, Tango Boréal reveals a setting inspired by broad horizons, freedom and hope. Like cowboys or gauchos looking for a home, the three musicians met during an evening of musical surprises. In their collective baggage we find waltzes, milongas, tangos and folkloric works gathered along the road, from one end of the Americas to the other.

Richard Boisvert in Le Soleil said : The trio bringing together Denis Plante on bandoneon, guitarist David Jacques and bassist Ian Simpson has now become one of the most active Quebec musical groups on the local scene and internationally.

The Tango Boréal trio is a stirring bandoneon, a passionate guitar and charango, fed by the earthy rhythm of the bass. Its performances are dizzying and punctuated with humorous comments. Tango Boréal is also a creative space where the bandoneon meets impressionist music, where the tango takes on blues accents. Multiplying the original creations and the collaboration with soloists, ensembles and orchestras, Tango Boréal is particularly dynamic on the national and international stage. Their first recording enthralled the critics and won them an Opus for the best world music album in 2012.

Artists : Denis Plante, bandoneon; David Jacques, guitar and charango; Ian Simpson, bass.
