Jacques Kuba Séguin

May 4, 8:00 p.m.

Jacques Kuba Séguin, Litania Projekt

A must-see !

Versatile and adventurous, the trumpeter and composer Jacques Kuba Séguin expresses himself within two groups of varying geometry - his sextet Odd Lot (formed in 2003) or his Litania Projekt quartet (founded in 2011). Séguin's repertoire is made up of explosive and accessible airs, melodies that are sensitive and take strong musical flight. A talented composer and arranger, authentic in his approach, Jacques Kuba Séguin also has a keen sense of showmanship.

Named Révélation Radio-Canada 2012-2013, this musician of Polish extraction commands both the national and international stage more and more frequently. In 2015, he was nominated in two ADISQ categories: arranger and jazz album of the year for L'élévation du point de chute. He was also nominated for the Opus 2016 jazz album of the year for the same album.

Litania Projekt: eight musicians on the stage

During the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 2014, Jacques Kuba Séguin performed an enhanced version of his Litania Projekt by adding a string quartet to the group. This new combination was very well received by the audience and by critics. It won him a nomination in the Opus 2015 "Concert of the Year - Jazz and World Music" category.

The performers : Jacques Kuba Séguin, trumpet; Frédéric Alarie, double bass; Jim Doxas, drums; Jonathan Cayer, piano; a string quartet joins the group - eight musicians on stage.
