Maxim Bernard

Maxim Bernard

Horowitz in Moscow

Maxim Bernard is a member of the rising generation. A wildly talented young virtuoso, he performed The Many Dimensions of Chopin last year. By popular demand and to our great pleasure, he is back this year with a fine program.

On April 20, 1986, at the Moscow Conservatory, coming back to his native Russia after more than sixty years in exile, pianist Vladimir Horowitz gave his compatriots a legendary recital in the spirit of a homecoming. This was a major event, both musical and political.

It is this famous concert that Maxim Bernard will celebrate by faithfully recreating the program. From Scarlatti's Sonata K. 380 to Träumerei by Schumann, passing through Petrarch's Sonnet No. 104 by Liszt and Rachmaninov's Preludes Op. 32, No. 5 and No.12, nothing is missing from this picture.

A great admirer of Vladimir Horowitz, but also of Alfred Cortot, Sergei Rachmaninov and Ignaz Friedman, Maxim Bernard appreciates, among other things, the hint of risk and the feeling of freedom that animated these great pianists of the past.

On the program : Scarlatti, Schumann, Liszt, Rachmaninov.
