Andean Traditions

Mestizo draws its rich and unique sounds from the sources of ancient Andean tradition. Its festive and rhythmical shows will take you along on a trip in the company of panpipes, charango, guitar and percussion instruments.

The group was born in the autumn of 2006 in the Côte des Neiges, neighbourhood of Montreal. In 2009 it comprised seven regular members and took on the name Willka Taki, meaning "sacred song." Fulfilling its desire to share its feeling of duality and the experience of the Andes with the public, the group has participated in various cultural activities in the Greater Montreal region, among them the Fesitval Péruvien de Montréal, and the Week-ends du Monde festival.

Currently, the group includes four regular members, who are always surrounded by top-rate surprise guests. It performs various styles of music, from which it takes its name meaning "mixed" or "crossbred," while respecting the musical foundations and traditions of each one.

Mestizo invites you to share its passion for its musical universe full of dream-like melodies.

Melodies from the Andes, dream melodies…
